Hillesden Securities Debt Collecting Agents and the Truth About Your Debt

Some debt purchasers are far worse than others. There are some DCAs who specialise in writing thousands of tentative letters about hypothetical debt to people saying that they owe money knowing full well that they owe nothing at all. This ruse works for these debt collection agencies because they're aware that a certain percentage of people will give in to their threats even though they realize they owe no money to anyone. Some of these debt collectors gather lists of debtor accounts which are more than six years old and try to profit from these. The problem is that this is totally illegal. They are known as Statute Barred debts, and they cannot be legally enforced.

Always insist on dealing with the debt collection agencies by post. Never give them your telephone number. The problem is at first they will tell you they are calling from the credit card company or bank and make you feel more obliged to cooperate with what they say. For them, your uncertainty is important, so they want as much uncertainty as they can: here is where Hillesden Securities debt collecting agents will have the best outcome for them. As soon as they get hold of your details they will use it to worry you, even to frighten you. The law is there to prevent this happening but the problem is that most people don't know what to do and it is all too apparent that the debt collectors know this and will use it to their advantage. Public organisations like the excellent CCCS (Consumer Credit Counselling Service) or the Citizen's Advice Bureau give a good free service but often they are overstretched so there are times when such advice is incomplete.

It is up to you to call into question the validity of the amount owed or indeed the existence of the debt itself by making a Subject Access Request (or sar) as a response to Hillesden Securities debt collecting agents. The true owner of the alleged debt (the bank or the debt purchasing firm) must give you a true signed copy of your original credit agreement if that contract was signed prior to 6 April 2007. When they fail to do this they are in violation of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, and the debt is said to be in dispute. While this situation exists they cannot ask for payment and they cannot sell it on to another agency (which many are likely to do at this stage). For as long as the alleged debt is in dispute it is said to be unenforceable, even by a judge.. Or you can get a solicitor to help you, because it can be a strain doing it by yourself. There are also specialist legal firms who have experience in this area.

The law in the UK doesn't seem to care very much when these things happen for some reason. Many of the debt companies that ply their trade in Britain are owned by overseas companies knowing where to make a fast buck where they can see it. There are laws in place governing Hillesden Securities debt collecting agents, but for some unfathomable reason the debt collection companies operate by bending the rules whenever possible. They only cease on being scolded by an organisation like the OFT or the FSA. And even in such cases the small fine they are handed is such a small fraction of their income that it doesn't matter to them, and they laugh at such punishments.

So ask Hillesden Securities Debt Collecting Agents for a copy of the original contract when you took out your loan or credit card.

Even better, start an unenforceable credit agreement application here. If you want to check, in addition, missold PPI and recover all the credit card charges you've paid over the last 6 years (plus 8% interest) it costs an upfront fee of only £99 for a full audit to see what you're entitled to. To find out if you qualify for an IVA or can benefit from a debt management programme, try the IVA Test. It's free to apply, and again you are protected by the consumer laws regarding debt management at all stages. Click here to go to the application form.
